PASTOR JOSEPH & LADY PORTIA HEWITT
Joseph R. Hewitt lived in an orphanage in Seoul, South Korea. He was just three when a Michigan couple, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph W. Hewitt, adopted little Hai Dong Lee and welcomed him into their West Side home in Detroit.
At 21, Joseph was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and filled with the Holy Ghost while attending Wayne State University graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
For nearly 17 years, Joseph served faithfully in diverse ministerial capacities in his local church under the tutelage of Elder H.J. Hoke. In 1994, he left a prestigious engineering position at General Motors to start Intercessions Word Ministry in a Middle School gymnasium. The new ministry introduced a host of new and exciting experiences: radio and TV ministry for
nearly ten years throughout Metro Detroit, countless workshops and conferences, and the salvation and reconciliation of many souls. Reconciliation Word Ministry, Intl. (renamed in 1996) remained in Royal Oak, MI, from 1996-2022.
Pastor Joseph is the quintessential teacher/preacher whose profound revelation is simply articulated and visually presented via PowerPoint and illustrated sermons. His no-nonsense, expositional preaching style is made evident throughout the congregation by the laughter of little children and the tears of repentant adults who willingly respond to altar calls.
Pastor Joseph is "committed to excellence in building people," the ministry motto. That excellence includes training young ministers and making room for the "Joshua generation" that God has sent to study under his tutelage. He believes that the new Millennial generation must learn the significance of becoming "true worshippers," living a lifestyle of holiness, and becoming empowered with God's Word and Spirit!
Finally, Pastor Joseph believes there must be a balance between family and ministry, which he highly practices and promotes. By the grace of God, he's been a loving and faithful husband to his beautiful wife, Portia L. Hewitt, for over 38 years. He states, "I would not be the man of God that I am today if it had not been for the help and favor that the Lord has given me through her." Joseph is also a loving and faithful father to his son Jared (37), an anointed chief musician, and his daughter Rachel (34), an anointed songstress.
In 2022 the Lord transitioned the ministry from the beautiful Royal Oak temple to a spaciousstudio suite at the Mars Corporate Center in Southfield, MI. The new venue will enable media production and publications.
